Doggone It

President and Mrs. Bush's Dog Spot Passes On.

Not even a President can make a Springer give up a tennis ball.

Poor Spot. But 15 years is a long
time for a Springer, no?

Yes, fifteen is definately beyond the expected lifespan for a Springer. Spot was obviously carefully bred and free of degenerative diseases and was a field Springer which are heartier than the conformation or show bred dogs.

A side note: the President detractors made fun of the name Spot, assuming that she was so named because of her coat and that he is a simpleton. Actually her name was a sports pun. She was named after Texas Ranger Shortstop Scotty Fletcher, ie Spotty Fetcher. Only Springer owners get how apt this is, as they are so quick on ground balls...we can rarely get one past Harley.
