Zach's most famous and tasty pie is spinach & mushroom deep dish...just enough cheese to balance the pie but not an excessive calorie count or fat intake unless you eat a whole large pizza.

Meesa likes the thin crust Mediterranean made with artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, green olives, feta and topped with Sonoma Jack...it is light and crispy. Yum... must be time for lunch.

Don't you suffer from a serious amount of light pollution there in SF? I suppose at least you have the dark ocean to your west, so don't have wall to wall light, like some places in the interior. And how 'bout sunsets over the rim of the wavy horizon....can't get those here in the Mts of Virginia, for sure. Yes, you are right to emphasize that there is beauty to be found, wherever 'home' is. Some places you just have to look a bit harder, get up earlier, or get outside your familiar boundaries.

What you read and see of Oz politics is about as accurate

a gauge of the average Aussie's feelings as is our media's

represenation. The Lefties get all the air and news time.

Like us, most Aussie's are moderates. They are live and let live

Our dog is almost 4 yrs old, a black lab named Buster. In 1981 we brought home our first male lab, named Zachary. I still call Buster Zach when I get mad at him, which doesn't happen often as it used to. Early, when considering his pedigree name, I voted for Dammit Buster of Goose Creek, since dammit, Buster came out of my mouth with such frequency.

Zachary has a wonderful story to tell. I only know our part in it. I don't know if it will help or hurt at this point, but it tells of our dog's part in our lives.

Nope..just the 35mm 3x stock lens on the Olympus. I have a telephoto but it's too much trouble to swap out lenses on short walks.

This camera is 4 megapixels...so you can zoom in Photoshop...this shot is about a quarter of the entire image. I clipped it out and zoomed in 25%...this is way cool cuz sometimes you find "the shot" later and it's not what you thought it was. *G*

That way I can return to the original without having to reload it. Some folks are at least do the target=blank thing. But you've got the worst of both worlds here. Every thime you post something I want to read, it sends me away.

What the hell is so valuable on this site that you don't want me to right-click? Afraid I'm going to save an image or something? I mean, if you had nude pictures of yourself or something, I wouldn't even be here in the first place. Or of you did, and I wanted them, bypassing the right-click thing is futile.

What the heck does it prevent me from doing other than surfing efficiently? There's a reason browsers and web sites work the way they do, there's absolutely no reason every Javascript monkey has to try and reinvent it.

Do the lives of the people being persecuted settle the debt of persecution suffered by the persecutors? Does the US have the right to abet persecution and then complain when the tide turns? Does the bully have the right to make the rules because he is the biggest in the class?

Irena is fortunate to be capable and able to determine her own destiny. What of those who, for various insuperable reasons, are not so lucky?

FF/ It is for drawing attention to specific failures that I found this man's action admirable. Those who remain silent and acquiesce to policies they deem immoral and hurtful but stay the course for reasons of political survival I have diminishing respect for.

FF/ At some point, a person must abandon the field to those who play by rules that will not change, regardless of how loud that one dissenting voice may be. I've left more than one job because of 'moral conflicts' when it became clear the two parties were marching to the sound of different drummers. My resignation may have been only a brief splash in the organization, but I had to live with myself for the rest of my life, as Mr. Kiesling does.

I'm sure there are times when I have commited the sin of omission, remaining silent when I should have made noise, just as Mr. Kiesling may have made wrong or ineffectual choices in the small role he may have played in the larger issues from former administrations you cite. I can't change my past mistakes of omission or commission. But I can chose to make a solitary stand on issues that are matters of personal integrity, even if my action won't win the war and other battles will arise.

Yes, I agree with what you say in prinicpal. You see my problem with many of those who are speaking out now is that they lost the moral high ground by remaining silent during the previous administration's foreign policy blunders. You use the metaphor of different drummers, but the music Kiesling marched to was discordant to our interests in the long term as well. Different is not always good.

One cannot take part in implementing bad policy and think their resignation over more bad policy is moral or retain any credibility. In part our foreign policy has been driven by career bureaucrats at State and until they clean their own house it won't much matter who controls the White House or Congress.

Sorry, Kiesling's act of piety doesn't wash...it's bald opportunism. Watch what he does next, he will no doubt write a book, turn up in academia or a liberal think tank.

It's not Saddam who gave France the possibility to show the world that there are people who don't jump when the US whistle, this honour belongs to George W. Bush himself. If he hasn't shown his dumb behaviour and if he would have done it the civilzed way it is supposed to be done, means either with UN or nothing, there wouldn't have been a reason for anyone to have this discussion with the US.

The way they're handling comments really bugs me. They disable the comments whenever there's no one available to monitor them, which means they're OFF most of the time. Like I said a few days ago on my blog: Either leave the comments on all (or at least most of) the time or don't have comments at all.

Politicians and the media just don't get the Internet. I think it's going to take another 30 or 40 years (when today's kids have grown up) before there is anyone in the government or the media who really understands the Internet and maybe not even then. Government and media ewbies have to allow themselves to be sucked into the existing culture or they don't survive, therefore very little ever changes.

Do not let anybody decide for you and do not mind too much what other people say. You'll go crazy if you do and you cannot please everyone anyway.

So far Pols seem to think that the Web and blogs in particular are another PR venue for campaign/party flacks to pump rote position pieces and party hype. They do not get that it is dynamic...or worse they fear interface with us.

Uh-huh. We are careful to forget that like Iraq, Germany was essentially a beaten force when Patton was "driving" across Europe. After Stalingrad, Kursk and the Soviet Operation Bagration, the Germans were a defeated nation. Heck, at the battle of Kursk (Operation Citadel, 1943), the Germans were having a hard time raising the manpower for the offensive. Patton was essentially kicking down a well-broken door.
